About the JurisWire bot
JurisWire is a legal news service from JurisApps, software for legal education and scholarship. It is coming soon.
JurisWire is an RSS aggregator that lets people build custom news pages and scheduled email reports. Each article has its headline, the publisher’s own short excerpt, a short note on why it matches their interests, and a link to read it on the publisher’s site.
The bot’s User-Agent is exactly JurisWire.
What it reads
Public RSS, Atom and JSON feeds, about once an hour. For sources JurisWire has specifically cleared, it also reads article pages linked from those feeds so the articles can be searched privately. Full articles are never republished; readers go to the publisher’s site.
How it behaves
It obeys robots.txt, including Crawl-delay, and paces requests to each site and each hosting service. It never logs in, gets around paywalls, or tries to get past a CAPTCHA, bot check or block. A 401, 403 or 429 response, or a challenge page, stops it for that site.
How to stop it
Add this to your robots.txt file:
User-agent: JurisWire
Disallow: /
Publishers can also write in to ask us to stop.
How to let it in
If your site uses a bot check, such as Cloudflare, you can allow the User-Agent JurisWire, or write in.
